Medicinal Marijuana & the Workplace

 

According to Health Canada the number of medical marijuana users will increase from 40,000 to 450,000 by 2024, approximately 60% of which will be employed, meaning that within 5 years there will be over 100,000 workers authorized to use medicinal marijuana.

 

Since 2013, MCRCI has provided industry with information and guidelines designed to provide employers with a comprehensive understanding of the issues and complexity of medicinal cannabis and workplace safety.

 

• MCRCI has legal experts available to advise employers as to their legal obligations and responsibilities regarding medicinal marijuana in the workplace.

• MCRCI has medical professionals available to educate employers on marijuana strains and usage as well as provide guidelines and structure.

• MCRCI medical staff will help employers and employees determine the appropriateness of medicinal cannabis as a treatment option, on a case by case basis.
